This is a general English course for adults and young adults who need to improve their basic English skills, both for their academic studies and professional activities and also to communicate effectively in everyday interactions and social situations

Unit 1 – Work, rest and play
Day-to-day phrases/ Free time activities/ do, play, go and go to collocations/ Adverbs and adverbial phrases of frequency/ Verb forms (review of present simple & cont., past simple, future and present perfect simple)/ Subject questions
Unit 2 – Beginnings
Past simple (review) – irregular verbs/ Past time phrases/ Relationships/ Past continuous/ Connecting words/ Starting and ending conversations
Unit 3 – The world of work
Employment/ Have to and had to/ Have to versus have/ Job-hunting/ Activity and state verbs/ Word building: noun endings/ Apologies, reasons and promises
Unit 4 – That’s entertainment!
Types of films/ Music/ Books/ TV/ Past participles/ Present perfect for life experience/ Linking sentences and ideas/ -ed and –ing adjectives/ Agreeing, disagreeing and asking for opinions
Unit 5 – Into the future
Verb – noun collocations/ Will for prediction/ Might, will be able to/ Going to/ Future plans and ambitions/ Verbs and prepositions/Offers, suggestions and requests
Unit 6 – Family and friends
Character adjectives/ Relationships/ Making comparisons: comparatives & superlatives/ a lot, much, a bit, (not) as…as/ Prefixes and opposites of adjectives/ Leaving phone messages
